Mount St. Joseph (Baltimore, MD) burned the nets for a 69 percent field goal percentage in the opening half to cruise to an 83-41 victory over Socastee (Myrtle Beach, SC) in the 2009 Beach Ball Classic.

With the win, the Gaels (11-1) advance to the semifinal round of he consolation bracket.  Mount St. Jospeh will take on J.L. Mann (Greenville, SC) for the chance to play for the consolation bracket title.

Mount St. Joseph scored earl;y and often in the opening 16-minute period as the Gaels tallied 20 of the game's first 22 points.  They went on to build leads as large as 45 points in the second half.

Matt Miller led four Mount St. Jospeh players in double figures with 21 points.  Eric Atkins tallied 15 points while Ryley Beaumont and Phillip Lawrence added 12 points each.

Socastee was paced with six points each by Brandon Alston, Tyrieke Morton, and Travis Frye.
