Playing without injured Shabazz Muhammed, the top rated sophomore in the land, and fellow starter Xavier Grimble, who is playing in the Under Armour All-Star Football Game, the Gaels have soared into the semifinal round wit ha pair of big wins.

After defeating Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, VA) in the opener 79-61, Bishop Gorman defeated Nichols School (Buffalo, NY) 84-44 in the quarterfinal round.  The Gaels (8-1) will now face Scott County (Georgetown, KY) for a chance at the 2009 BBC title.

With the game tied at 11-11 with 11:40 to play in the opening half, Bishop Gorman erased all doubt as to which team would win by scoring 17 unanswered points.  The Gaels went on to lead by as many as 45 in route to the victory.

Taylor Spencer and Johnathan Loyd each tallied 20 points to lead Bishop Gorman.  Ryan Parks came off of the bench to drain four 3-pointers and tally 18 points.  Loyd also posted six assists and five steals.

Team Defense + Team Offense = 40 pt. win. Bishop Gorman puts on another impressive performance at the Beach Ball Classic with a total commitment to team basketball. If Gorman continues to play with the intensity and determination it is showing, they will be very hard to beat. Keep it going Gorman, and bring home the hardware to the Silver State.
