Mount St. Joseph (Baltimore, MD) turned a close contest into a romp with a 24-5 second half run to take a 78-53 win over J.L. Mann (Greenville, SC) in the 2009 Beach Ball Classic.  The Gaels advance to the consolation bracket championship game where they will face either Daniel (Central, SC) or St. Frances (Baltimore, MD).

Leading 50-42 with 8:42 to play in the second half, Mount St. Joseph 16 of the game's next 18 points during the 24-5 spurt.  The run ended with 3:44 on the clock and 74-47 on the scoreboard.

Mount St. Joseph was led by Eric Atkis' 20 points, five assists and four steals.  Ryley Beaumont, who will play collegiately at Elon, scored 17 points for the Gaels while Matt Miller chipped in 16 points.

Darrice Whitley paced J.L. Mann with 14 points.
