Stephen Clark found his range in the Myrtle Beach (SC) Convention Center on Wednesday to lead Douglass (Oklahoma City, OK) to an 87-63 victory over Rice (Manhatten, NY). The victory sends the Trojans into the semifinal round of the 30th Annual Beach Ball Classic.
Clark, who hit 7-of-20 3-point attempts in the opening game of the tournament on Monday, connected on 8-of-12 against Rice. His 15 made threes are just one short of the record 16 tossed in by J.L. Mann's (Greenville, SC) Damien Leonard during the 2008 BBC.
As for the game, Douglass (6-1) shocked everyone by exploding out of the gates to a 35-4 lead in the first eight minutes of the contest.
Douglass was led by Clark's 27 points and seven steals. Dorrian Williams added 20 points and Romond Jenkins chipped in 15 points for the Trojans.
Richard Council came off of the bench to lead Rice (5-1) with 23 points and 17 rebounds.
